History
History
As a group of physicians, we have long recognized the urgent need for a modern, not-for-profit hospital in Malir, Karachi—a rapidly growing area where hundreds of thousands of families lack access to reliable, quality healthcare.
The concept for Hasan Suleman Memorial Hospital (HSMH) began taking shape in 2021 through discussions, planning, and early initiatives aimed at establishing a world-class, tertiary-care facility that serves the community with dignity and compassion.
The project gained profound significance following the untimely passing of Hasan Suleman in March 2022. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and care for others inspired family, friends, and supporters across the U.S., Pakistan, and around the world to unite behind this noble Sadqa e Jaria initiative. What began as a vision for healthcare, transformed into both a living tribute to Hasan and a mission of service for future generations.
This dual foundation—a recognized community healthcare need and a cherished personal legacy—has provided HSMH with its enduring strength. With renewed determination, the project accelerated: fundraising efforts gained momentum, organizational structures expanded across the U.S., Canada, and Pakistan, and construction progressed steadily.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on November 8, 2024. Within just one year, by November 8, 2025, the nine-story structural framework of HSMH was completed. Interior finishing and furnishing are now underway, with the target inauguration and admission of our first patients scheduled for December 2026.
With your continued support, commitment, and dedication, we are confident of reaching the finish line on time, InshaAllah.
